Former champion Rafael dos Anjos gave his honest opinion when asked about the BMF belt. Recently, Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirer competed for the BMF title at UFC 291, which ended ecstatically. Gaethje won the fight by knocking out Poirer with an incredible head kick in the second round to secure the BMF title. Many fighters had contradicting opinions on the BMF title. Fighters like Kevin Holland liked the concept, but others like Rafael dos Anjos had a differing opinion.

A reporter claimed dos Anjos to be a suitable choice for the BMF title fight at the press conference for the upcoming event. He asked about dos Anjos’s opinion on competing for the BMF title. The 9th ranked lightweight contender answered, “I don’t think I make requirements for that fight for BMF as I am a former champ. As we all know, I’ve held the belt in the past. The guys that fight for the BMF belt are the ones that have never held championships.”

Rafael dos Anjos will fight Vicente Luque at UFC Vegas 78. He will hope to defeat Luque and extend his legendary career. The former champion has fought many big-name fighters from the lightweight and welterweight divisions, like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Eddie Alvarez, Nate Diaz, Kamaru Usman, Leon Edwards, and Colby Covington. He holds an impressive record of 32 wins with 14 losses in his MMA career.

Additionally, Dana White and the UFC might set up fights for the BMF title defenses. They have yet to maintain interest in having Gaethje compete for a BMF title defense. However, anything could happen. An inconsistent past of the BMF has lowered its value among the fighters.

The comeback fight of Conor McGregor remains an important question in the MMA community. It has become a major talking point for the combat world. Some sources previously suggested Michael Chandler as McGregor’s new opponent. However, after the BMF title win, Justin Gaethje added his name to the list. Questioning this dilemma, Rafael Dos Anjos was asked about his opinion on who should be the potential opponent for Mcgregor.

The Brazilian fighter said, “He (Mcgregor) fights whoever he wants, he picks his fights. I think it makes sense because of the show. To be honest with you, I don’t think Chandler deserves that fight. There’s other guys that deserve that fight. But I think it will make sense because of the show and all of that. Usually all of the coaches fight at the end of the show. Nothing against Chandler, but I think there is other guys that deserve that fight. Justin Gaethje is a guy who fought everybody, would make sense if he got that fight.”(H/T MMA Mania)

Recently, UFC president Dana White cleared all the speculations about the Mcgregor fight. Dana said, “He (McGregor) likes to f**k with everybody.” He went on to confirm the opponent as Michael Chandler. As of now, the fight has yet to be confirmed but all signs suggest Chandler as the opponent for McGregor.
