“Straight up, he’s a p**sy”- Rafael Dos Anjos slam Islam Makhachev for making lame excuses to avoid a fight against him

Rafael Dos Anjos vs Islam Makhachev

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is one strong contender that has proved himself time and again with the toughest schedule of fights, most the fans have ever seen.

In the lightweight, dos Anjos fought the likes of Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, Tony Ferguson, Eddie Alvarez, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, 4 of these fighters are former lightweight champions. At welterweight, “RDA” has fought the likes of Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington, and Robbie Lawler with Usman and Lawler having held the belt and Usman being the current welterweight champion.

This in Dos Anjos’ character to not back up from fights, also, no matter on how many days notice. Case in point, when Dos Anjos’ opponent for UFC 272, Rafael Fiziev was out of the competition due to Covid, Dos Anjos accepted his fight in a late replacement opponent, Renato Moicano on a few days’ notice. However, Dos Anjos was all in to fight #3 Lightweight Islam Makhachev, had not Makhachev said no to the fight after being in for it.

These two exchange heated words from time to time, and now that RDA is booked to face Rafael Fiziev he was interviewed by MMA Fighting. He was asked to provide his take on Islam Makhachev, and he didn’t hold anything back in this interview, he stated, “Islam is a p**y. I took the fight. Straight up, he’s a p**sy. I took the fight, he took the fight. I went to bed, thought I’m going to fight him, and then in the morning he tried to say otherwise. I’m glad Dana White came over and said the truth.”

Talking about the weight debacle, he said, “I’m going to take the fight. He said 170, I said 165, and they kept 170. I was 170 when I was speaking to the UFC at the time. I was already 170 and sent them the picture on the scale and I was 170. I said, ‘I’ll take this fight against Islam at 170, I just want to fight. I haven’t fought in so long, I had a hard training camp, I want to fight anybody.’ Then in the morning, the deal fell out on his side.”

“I don’t blame anybody for not taking a fight on short notice, but since you put your name out there, you’ve got to go. If you don’t put your name, that’s fine. But you can’t (say), ‘OK, I’m taking the fight’ and he accepted, now, ‘I’m not taking it.’ That’s not cool,” RDA concluded.
