Joe Rogan was not in the commentary booth at UFC 297. However, he made a fight comparison with Brendan Schaub, Eddie Bravo, and Joey Diaz who live-streamed on his YouTube channel. During the live stream, the group had an interesting conversation about Raquel Pennington who fought in the co-main event against Mayra Bueno Silva. It was about the infamous Amber Heard – Johnny Depp defamation lawsuit.

During the fight between Pennington and Silva, Rogan remarked that Pennington had been fighting for a long time. He also credited the toughness of Pennington.

At the time Schaub insinuated something about Pennington. This is what he said,

Well is she the one that..is she the one that's close with Johnny Depp? That her? It's she or somebody else. They used to live with Johnny Depp.

Schaub surprised Rogan who remarked that Depp is a cool guy. JRE producer, Jamie Vernon agreed with Schaub. He even went on to say that Pennington was Amber Heard’s friend and not Depp’s. Hilariously, Rogan and Schaub even thought Pennington lived with Depp even during the notorious defamation trial.

Interestingly, Amber Heard had a friend named Raquel Pennington. However, that was a different person and not the Raquel Pennington in the UFC. Producer Jamie Vernon gets the facts right, but at this time, he too got it wrong. Maybe, Vernon too might have been high like Shaub and Rogan.

Raquel Pennington went off for dragging her into Johnny Depp’s defamation case

The mainstream media mistook Raquel Pennington for Amber Heard’s friend of the same name even before Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub mistook her. During the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial, a woman named Pennington testified on behalf of Heard. The woman was a former best friend of her.

Her testimony was supportive of Heard’s version of the story. This was when the mainstream media mistook the woman for the UFC fighter, Raquel Pennington. UFC bantamweight Pennington at the time provided a clarification for the controversy. This is what she tweeted at the time.

This is starting to piss me off that ppls jobs are to report news but they can’t even get their facts straight! If your so invested in something you should know what your talking about! I don’t have shit to do with this situation! It’s another Raquel Pennington!

Pennington’s tweet put an end to the rumors. Unlike the UFC fighter Raquel Pennington, Amber Heard’s Raquel Pennington has no relation to MMA whatsoever. Nonetheless, at the time, the name Raquel Pennington made headlines during the Johnny Depp – Amber Heard trial.
