While competing at a K1 kickboxing event in Bangalore, India, Nikhil Suresh lost via knockout. In terrible circumstances, he then passes away. India is becoming the location for MMA’s most recent expansion due to the country’s rising economy and long history of combat sports. The India market is also being chased after by other foreign MMA promoters. The Singapore-based ONE Championship has stated that it will reach India in 2019. The Kumite 1 League is another option.

It was founded in 2017 and is run by Mohamedali Budhwani of Toyam Industries. Mike Tyson provides support and mentoring for this league. In August, Kumite will debut K1L Warrior Hunt, a reality series in which contestants in ten weight divisions will be chosen as winners and trained for the next five years to become future MMA stars.

This surge of exhilaration is very normal in many ways. MMA is currently the third most popular sport in the world, behind basketball and soccer. India has a lengthy history of combat sports, despite its enormous population and thriving economy. India regularly contends for medals at the Olympics in the sports of boxing and wrestling despite having a dismal overall record in international competition.

An investigation has been opened by the authorities into the unfortunate death of MMA fighter Nikhil Suresh, 23, who passed away at the age of 23 after being brutally knocked out during a bout in India. He died as a result of injuries he acquired during a kickboxing match in Bangalore, India. Nikhil Suresh was taking part in a competition that the K1 Association of Karnataka was hosting. He received a powerful punch during one of his fights that rendered him unconscious and sent him sliding to the ground. Soon after, Suresh was taken to the hospital, but on July 13 he passed away due to his wounds.

The father of Nikhil Suresh reported the event’s organisers’ negligence to the local authorities in a police complaint. Rapid Fitness Gym in Jnanabharati was visited by local police as part of the inquiry. His coach however stated, “Had there been an ambulance, trained medical staff and a standard fighting platform at the venue he wouldn’t have lost those precious golden moments when the tragedy struck and could have saved him from this agony.”

It is undoubtedly a very unfortunate event. Hopefully such an event does justice to the sport to make people aware of how extreme it can be at times and emphasis on the underlying onus utmost duty of care taken by the event managers.
