Robert Whittaker is known for being humble and after his loss at UFC 290, the fighter did exactly the same. The former UFC champion had a strong start to the battle, but Dricus Du Plessis gained control as the first round went on. He then won the fight by TKO in the second round, ultimately getting a title fight with Israel Adesanya. Whittaker now finds himself in a difficult position after suffering his first loss at 185 pounds.
After the loss, Whittaker went on social media to talk about his performance and its aftermath. “Congratulations to Dricus – he showed up to fight, and I didn’t,” said Whittaker in a video.
“But that’s the nature of the beast. You can’t have a day off. It is what it is. But I will say that I do believe that challenges and hardships and obstacles that get presented to you that you overcome, make you stronger. Build character, make you a better man and in fact a better athlete, and I will come back stronger from this.” added Whittaker.
Whitaker has no plans to give up and wants to get back inside the octagon soon and end the year with a win. The 32-year-old is very talented and is definitely not going down this easily.

After Dricus Du Plessis beat Robert Whittaker at UFC 290, the fighter was accompanied by Israel Adesanya in the octagon. After some heated exchange, it seems like the rivalry has developed to the next level.
However, after that rant by Adesanya, many fans claimed that the champion was out of line. However, Izzy doesn’t think he was and recently tweeted in order to clear the air. He wrote: “Don’t back play the victim…stand on your original statement. Say it with yo chest nigga!! I never discredited you as a real African, you tried to discredit 3 Real African UFC Champions. You started this, and I will finish this! That’s not a threat, that’s a promise. Gbo gbo yin ma ku! #oloriburuku #oyinboboy #UFC293.”
Izzy mentioned that it was Du Plessis who initially started this rivalry by disrespecting Adesanya, Kamaru Usman, and Francis Ngannou. According to Adesanya, he is going to end this the time both will fight each other inside the octagon.
