“The only move is up” – Robert Whittaker reveals his plans of moving up to light heavyweight division

Robert Whittaker
Robert Whittaker is all set to take on Marvin Vettori at UFC in Paris this weekend inside Accor Arena in Paris, France. This is the first time UFC is going to hold an event in France. The response has been amazing. The Whittaker vs Vettori fight is going to be the co-main event and holds a lot of significance.
Both fighters have once lost their opportunity to beat Israel Adesanya. This could be considered the second chance to get the attention of the champ.
Whittaker has already made his name as one of the best middleweights in the division. He has done everything including fighting all the best opponents throughout his career and becoming the middleweight champion of the world. It’s safe to say that the fighter might think about doing something else and trying a different division to challenge himself.
“I’m gonna do it properly”- Robert Whittaker talks about his approach towards becoming a light heavyweight in future

Ahead of the fight this weekend, Robert Whittaker appeared on the UFC in Paris media day.
During the interview, “The Repeat” was asked about his intentions on moving up to 205 lbs. While responding to the assumptions, Whittaker revealed that light heavyweight is the only option as he is not going to cut more weight. According to the fighter, he is not considering it anytime soon as the move is just a possibility for now. He said:
“The only move is up. I couldn’t make it down and it’s something like, it’s a possibility but it isn’t something that I’m looking towards in the immediate future and just because I’m doing pretty well in the Middleweight division.”

Robert explained that if ever decides to move up a division he will do it in a correct way. The Aussie talked about gaining more muscles and doing movement training in order to become a true light heavyweight.
“The light heavyweight division for me is a one-way move because I’m gonna do it properly. I’m going to get all the muscle mass, get the movement right at the heavier weight, all of that jazz,” said Whittaker.
After he’s done with middleweight, Whittaker might think about getting his hands on the light heavyweight division. Given his height and size, it might be a tough challenge but there is always a possibility. Sure fight fans would love to see ‘ Bobby Knuckles’ doing something different and experimental.
