Watch what Robert Whittaker thinks of the upcoming fight between Adesanya and Pereira
Robert Whittaker had no lies in his assessment of the upcoming bout between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya. Maybe because of his prior experiences with Adesanya, Whittaker feels that while beating Adesanya may seem possible, Dethroning him does not.
Whittaker gave up some of his time, talking to the press after his performance at UFC Paris. Scheduled to face Marvin Vettori, Whittaker was the superior Martial Artist in every aspect of the game. He won a unanimous decision by the end of three rounds and barely had any scars of battle to show for it
After the fight when asked about his future, Whittaker hinted that he would want to keep fighting until a shot at the title opens up. As a follow-up to this, Whittaker was asked for his prediction of the upcoming fight between Adesanya and Pereira. Sure to say, Whittaker had given the subject deep thought prior to tonight.

Adesanya and Pereira have been rivals for a long time. The two first met in Kickboxing under the Chinese promotion, Glory of Heroes, where Pereira managed to gain a decision. It was their second fight that gained massive attention as Pereira became the first and only man to KO Adesanya.
This was the sole reason that Pereira was pushed up the rankings and up to title contention despite having been in only 7 MMA fights. However Whittaker believes that expecting the same results as in kickboxing would be very wrong, a huge variable being the smaller gloves.
“He’s very good,” said Whittaker as he chuckled for giving his arch nemesis an undeniable compliment. “I think his style of fighting, he’s a very good defensive striker, and he has the physical attributes to do it, as well as the talent in the craft, the eyes, the head for it”, said Whittaker as he complimented Adesanya for being able to “Avoid danger like nobody’s business.“
“He’s very hard to dethrone, I think its going to be interesting, they’ve fought before”, said Whittaker as he cautioned everyone that “Small gloves change things.” In the past Whittaker has also said that he’d want to see Pereira as a champion because it makes it easier for him to win a title relying on his wrestling prowess.
