“Not enjoying half my life”- Robert Whittaker went in a really dark place after his loss against Israel Adesanya

Robert Whittaker on beating Israel Adesanya at UFC 271

Ahead of UFC 271, Robert Whittaker assures that this time he is in a different mindset before going against the middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.

Adesanya has been unstoppable since he started his reign in the middleweight division. The fighter was undefeated until he went up to the light heavyweight division and challenged Jan Blachowicz for the title. But in the middleweight, the fighter has obliterated every single one of the top contenders.

Whittaker is the only fighter in the division that currently has the chance against Izzy. That is the reason fight fans are excited to see the outcome of the fight at UFC 271.

With the much-awaited middleweight title fight between Whittaker and Adesanya is now close, the Australian recently appeared in the pre-fight press conference and answered the media.

During the interview, Whittaker was asked what is different in him as a fighter this time in comparison to the last time when he was challenged by Adesanya. While responding to the question, the former champ revealed that this time he is very happy and enjoying every little thing during the build-up to the fight. Whittaker explained that he has come to terms with the fact that if he doesn’t enjoy the process then he will be missing out a lot. As most of his life revolves around training and preparation of the bouts and then fighting.

This one’s a much happier person. I’m just enjoying it. I feel I’m a much happier person. I realized that if I didn’t enjoy the process and the road that led me here, I was, you know, not enjoying half my life because I spent a lot of my time training and fighting in fight weeks. So, yeah it’s a job and I’m enjoying it,” said Whittaker

The last time the duo fought each other was at UFC 243 in 2019. In that fight, Whittaker was not his usual self and the pressure of the huge PPV event took over his mind and concentration. Robert Whittaker went on a dark phase after his first fight against Adesanya. But, this time things are different and the fighter is all set to take what he lost against ‘”The last stylebender“.
