Joe Rogan interviewed Mike Perry on his podcast. This is a collaboration that most fans did expect. Perry once controversially described himself as an African. Ever since then, the fans have trolled him for citing this aspect.
This narrative turned dark when Mike Perry decided he could use N-word slang publicly and even to other black people. He mainly received backlash for this habit when he used the word against African American actor Michael Jai-White in a Twitter spat. Other fighters like UFC strawweight Angella Hill have also supported the public against Mike Perry and his lack of awareness regarding the slur. In his defense, Mike Perry publically claimed to be able to use such slang since he is 2% African.
In a recent podcast episode of JRE, Joe Rogan initiated the question of whether Mike Perry believes that he would struggle against the power of some fighters. But Perry voiced his concern about the fans wanting him to fight in Africa. He further explained that this is the joke going around on social media nowadays. Even though this was completely random and not what Rogan had asked him about, this is a unique aspect of the fighter.
It seemed to be all fun and games for the fans and the fighter. Nevertheless, the public seems to be glad that Perry seems to have understood his mistakes and is remorseful about them.
