Rose Namajunas reveals why she didn’t want to fight rival Zhang Weili for the third time. Namajunas is one of the most popular female UFC superstars in recent years, and she has proven her caliber inside the octagon multiple times. 

However, the fighter has been out of action for nearly a year now, and recently, in an interview with The MMA Hour, she mentioned why she didn’t plan to fight Weili again.

She said: “Weili is the champ now so then what? I fight her a third time. It’s just not very interesting. Could just beat her again but to me it’s like more than that. I want something that kinda scares me. I want to face my fears.”

According to Namajunas, she had already beaten Weili twice in a row, and a third fight is something that she’s not looking forward to. ‘Thug Rose’ explained that she wants something that will scare her and motivate her to be serious about the fight.

Rose Namajunas will be back in the UFC octagon after a year and plans to bounce back from her last loss against Carla Esparza. The fighter lost her UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship in the last fight and gave fans an underwhelming performance.  However, the fighter is really looking forward to her next opponent and is quite impressed by her fighting style.

“Overall, I just think Manon as an opponent is exciting too,” Namajunas said.”She’s a true martial artist. She’s not just a fighter or an athlete. I like girls that can strike. I like girls that are overall MMA well-rounded, which she is, but definitely her karate background and her style and everything, even her little attitude, her whole swagger, that’s something that brings out the competitor in me.”

The former strawweight champion thinks that Fiorot is an all rounder and has the ability to bring something new to the table. Namajunas is impressed by Fiorot’s personality and it keeps her on her toes ahead of their clash.
