“The neck problems went away”- Rose Namajunas shares a miracle that happened after she got slammed on her head by Jessica Andrade

Jessica Andrade vs Rose Namajunas

Rose Namajunas is going to defend her title against Carla Esparza in a rematch at UFC 274. These two first meet each other at the finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season 20. Rose was a big favorite coming into this fight, but Carla derailed her hype and dominated the fight to become the first female strawweight champion.

Carla enjoyed the limelight, and Rose had to take some time to reflect upon her loss. Carla lost her title to Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and Joanna in turn lost it to Namajunas. Both these ladies came a long way from their first fight, and now they are ready to settle the score once in for all.

Rose overcame a lot of struggles to become the champ, she knocked out Zhang Weili to win her belt and then defended it against her in a spectacular fashion. Rose looked better than ever in these bouts and asked for a rematch against Esparza. Her opponent, on the other hand, is on a five-fight winning streak, and she is hungry to dethrone the champ.

Rose’s last loss came against Jessica Andrade, and it was a brutal one as well. Andrade picked her up and slammed her on her head. Rose was knocked out cold, and she eventually avenges her loss. Namajunas believes that loss taught her a lot, and it came out as a blessing in disguise.

Talking to Morning Kombat, she said, “With Joanna, I would say even though I had been in a five-round fight before that, the rematch with her was the real first war that I had. I had to weather a little bit of damage. With Andrade, that was a complete total stripping away of any innocence. I got slammed on my neck and then I got my nose broken in the second fight.”

She added, “The first fight was so different from the second fight as far as I didn’t really sustain any damage even though I got KO’ed. Actually, the neck problems that I had went away after getting slammed on my neck, which is kind of weird and sort of a miracle for me. I came out of that fight unscathed, basically, whereas the second fight, totally different.”

“I had zero quit in me. I didn’t care if she broke my face, I was busted up or anything. I came out of that fight victorious, but I was damaged. It was a blessing in disguise as well,” Namajunas concluded.
