“Bombs can land” – Sean O’Malley breaks down fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Josh Emmett
Sean O'Malley talks about Josh Emmett vs Alexander Volkanovski
The featherweight division is with a number of contenders coming up to challenge the king Alexander Volkanovski. Rising bantamweight fighter Sean O’Malley does see a possibility of Volkanovski being knocked out by the powerful Josh Emmett who is coming off a win this weekend.
This weekend at UFC Fight Night: Austin, two featherweight top contenders Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett went toe-to-toe in an intense five-round battle. The fight ended in favor of Emmett in a controversial decision win. With that win, Josh extended his winning streak to five and is currently a favorite to challenge for the title next. Emmett has beaten top fighters to stack his five-fight win streak. Sean O’Malley believes Josh could be a threat to Volkanovski and his reign as a champion.
“Volk might piece him,” said O’Malley when he and his friends began to talk about the possible Volkanovski vs Emmett title fight. “Volk got like a really good jab and Josh kind of just throws bombs. But bombs can land. I guess f**king Calvin had a good jab and Josh won. So it’d [Alex vs Josh] be a sick fight,” O’Malley said on the TimboSugarShow.
Sean O’Malley ranks Alex Volkanovski’s IQ among the best in the business
Volkanovski is turning out to make a great case to be the greatest featherweight to grace the UFC octagon. The fighter has continuously stacked wins upon wins in a dominant fashion to make a claim to the GOAT status. Volkanovski is currently ranked top on the pound-for-pound chart right below the welterweight fighter Kamaru Usman. O’Malley believes the fighter from Australia has the best IQ in the game.
“He’s definitely pound-for-pound like, top three – Kamaru, Izzy, and him,” said O’Malley talking about Volkanovski’s fight IQ. Volkanovski will be taking on Max Holloway for the third time in his career to put an end to that rivalry once and for all. The featherweight champ fights at UFC 276 on July 3rd and will also have Suga O’Malley fighting on the main card.
O’Malley takes on Pedro Munhoz in a very important bantamweight fight. A win against Pedro could see O’Malley fancying a chance against one of the top contenders of what is a stacked bantamweight division. This is Sean’s toughest fight so far following his bout against Chito Vera.
