Sean O’Malley began his rule over the bantamweight division at UFC 292. His knockout against Aljamain Sterling in the second round shocked the world. O’Malley’s precision and power were crucial to get the win. As Sterling overextended at O’Malley, he was hit with a swift countershot. Sterling got rocked, and O’Malley finished the fight with ground and pound. It had a similar ending to that of Conor McGregor‘s win over Jose Aldo.

“The Notorious” is an icon for the entire MMA community. People will forever remember his fight against Aldo. The 13-second fight ended with a single counter shot, similar to O’Malley’s finish at UFC 292. After the fight, O’Malley made the legendary McGregor reference, “the billionaire strut,” backstage. McGregor has a history of doing the legendary movement over his fighting career.

After finishing off Aldo, McGregor began his epic reign over UFC. Sean O’Malley may also be going on the same path. Sterling defended his title three times before he faced O’Malley. He was surely the better fighter in the first round, but O’Malley’s counterstriking was too much for Sterling to handle. The Funkmaster did not have an answer for Suga Sean’s timing and power.

O’Malley called out Marlon Vera for a rematch. Vera is the only fighter who has defeated O’Malley in his MMA career. This may begin a new era for all bantamweights in the UFC. The Suga show era has now officially begun.
