The rise of Sean O’Malley as a UFC star was one to behold. He won the bantamweight title last year, furthering his pursuit of becoming a big star in combat sports. However, critics reproved ‘Suga’ for getting a title shot over other deserving contenders. As such, fellow bantamweight Cory Sandhagen recently trolled the champion and claimed he had the ‘Famous Guy Leverage.’ Now, O’Malley fired back shots at him.
Cory Sandhagen came on the MMA Hour recently. Sandhagen claimed he had to hang out with rappers, color his hair, and tattoo his face to gain the ‘Famous Guy Leverage.’ He insinuated at Sean O’Malley’s demeanor and trolled him slyly. As such, ‘Suga’ took notice of his comments and trolled ‘The Sandman back in style. He rubbed Sandhagen by mentioning his losses to Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan. Here is what he said:

Although Sean O’Malley advised Cory Sandhagen tattooing his face might help, he meant it as a taunt. As such, he extended his troll, mentioning that knocking out Aljamain Sterling or beating Petr Yan would help gain ‘Famous Guy Leverage.’ These fighters defeated ‘The Sandman’ while Sean O’Malley had wins over them. ‘Suga’ knocked out Sterling at UFC 292 and defeated Yan by split decision at UFC 280. On the other hand, Sandhagen lost to both of them.
Sean O’Malley is defending his bantamweight title in his next fight against Marlon Vera at UFC 299. As for Cory Sandhagen, he remained on the sidelines due to an injury he suffered in his previous fight. However, he looked forward to fighting this year and hoped to face ‘Suga’ for the title.
Cory Sandhagen calls for a title shot against Sean O’Malley
For a long time, Cory Sandhagen remained one of the top contenders in the bantamweight division. However, he hasn’t fought for the undisputed belt once. So, after securing a three-fight win streak, ‘The Sandman’ called his shots for the title. As such, he eyed the winner of Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera, which goes down in March.

In his recent appearance on the MMA Hour Show, Cory Sandhagen laid out his plans for his return. He expressed his wish to fight for the title and made arguments to fight the winner of Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera. Although he preferred Vera, ‘The Sandman’ mentioned he and ‘Suga’ were in their prime, and a fight between them remained exciting. As such, he claimed it was a matchup the fans wanted to see.
Cory Sandhagen injured his triceps during his fight with Rob Font last year. Hence, he underwent surgery and followed the rehabilitation protocols. Now, being in the final stages of rehab, he wanted to return in the middle of the year and fight for the bantamweight title.
