“Suga” Sean O’ Malley takes on Petr Yan at UFC 280, in what is expected to be a high-paced fight.

O’Malley and Yan are both predominantly strikers, so expect to see the fight remain on the feet most of the time. However, that is not to say that either of the two cannot handle a formidable opponent on the ground. Although he did lose to Aljamain Sterling during their second outing, because of the Jamaican-American’s superior ground control, Petr Yan did not ever look like a fish out of water.

In what is being seen as an extremely high stakes match for the bantamweight division, both the fighters are taking rounds going at each other on social media.

On the TimboSugaShow, in between talking with guest MMAGuru, Sean O’Malley let slide a few details of some conspicuous rumours surrounding Petr Yan. For context, the MMAGuru basically said that Petr Yan’s “Siberian” qualities will ensure him the win, to which Tim Welch (his co-host), retorted, “I don’t think he’s in Siberia though, he’s in Thailand, at Tiger Muay Thai.

To this, O’Malley said, “I heard he has a little ladyboy friend over there, I don’t want to start rumours and sh*t.” Understanding the volatility of the comment, Welch said, “Nothing wrong with that” and “Suga” echoed the very same words.

An appreciable quality of O’Malley’s was him not taking any offence to the MMAGuru saying to him that he believes his opponent, Petr Yan will smother him with his pressure and take a win back to Russia.

Amongst other things, the podcast hosts and MMAGuru discussed who they thought will triumph at UFC 280 – they both unanimously went with Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira as the winner of the main event.

When asked by O’Malley as to why he thought so, MMAGuru said, “I got Charles Oliveira. You gotta take the massive underdog. I think it’s just 50-50, I’m leaning Oliveira. Charles Oliveira, one of my favourite fighters, probably the best champion on the roster right now, in terms of entertainment.

To this, “Suga” replied, “Yeah, I would agree with that. I’m going with Do Bronx too. I don’t know if I just want him to win so bad!
