Sean O’Malley is the next big thing, according to Dana White. O’Malley’s star level remained evident during the fight week of UFC 292, with “Suga” merchandise everywhere selling out quickly. Moreover, having an Irish heritage helps the matter, as evident with the success of Conor McGregor.

O’Malley is vocal about his future plans. In the post-fight speech, he called for a rematch against Marlon Vera to be his first title defense. It looks like the UFC might go in that direction. Moreover, during his post-fight press conference, O’Malley called out Gervonta “Tank” Davis. O’Malley did not get a direct reply from Davis, but his coach claimed that O’Malley could not perform well against average boxers of the 135-pound division. O’Malley recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Will someone tell Gervante when he gets out of jail I’m lookin for him.” The jail reference in the tweet is about Davis’ run-ins with the law, which are multiple.

Sean O’Malley’s immediate plans involve his first defense of the title in December. Even though O’Malley called out Gervonta Davis, the likelihood of the fight happening any time soon remains very low. It can only happen after O’Malley defends the title multiple times. With the bantamweight division being stacked as it is right now, there is no shortage of opponents for Sean O’Malley.

Gervonta Davis recently fought Ryan Garcia in a fight that ended in a KO victory for Davis in round 7. It was one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the year. The undefeated boxer has many contenders lined up in his division. Davis has not yet responded to any of O’Malley’s call-outs.

But for now, they should stay clear of each other and follow their lane.
