O’Malley is currently amid a three-fight knockout streak. The run followed his first and only career loss, which was a TKO defeat to Marlon Vera in a bout where O’Malley claims he suffered an in-fight injury that hampered his performance. Pedro is currently ranked #10 in the Bantamweight division, while Sean ranks #13.

Pedro has lost 4 of the last 5 fights. However, his losses came to former champions Dominick Cruz, Jose Aldo, Frankie Edgar, and current Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling.

Sean has won his 4 out of 5 last fights and this fight could be his way to the top 10 of the bantamweight division. If Sean wins this fight, he will be one step closer to his main goal, which is the bantamweight title. However, Pedro will not be an easy fight for Sean. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Sean talked about how good Pedro is and he even claimed that Pedro is going to be his toughest fight to date.

Sean O’Malley is ready to fight his next opponent in July. Sean has shown incredible skills in the octagon, however, he is still not the top fighter in the bantamweight division. Despite being a big star in the UFC, Sean has not fought a ranked opponent till now and has said that he will fight ranked opponents only if he is paid well.

However, in his recent interview, Sean has provided a roadmap about his future in the UFC and has shown his desire to fight for the title next year. Sean has also expressed his desire to fight Chito Vera in a rematch after losing to him at UFC 252.

Sean said: “Two more finishes — early 2023. I’m fighting for the belt, whoever has it. I think after this fight, I go out there, I’ve got to finish Pedro — and I go out there, let’s say I finish Pedro, I get a top-5 guy, whoever that is. Depending on if ‘Chito’ gets a fight booked, I know that’s a fight that I want,”

As Sean prepares to make a comeback in the octagon, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him. If Sean wins against Pedro, Sean will prove that he definitely is becoming a threat to the bantamweight champion and he deserves a top 5 opponent. However, a loss against Pedro will be a major setback for the UFC star as his career is already progressing at a very slow pace and the loss will further derail his journey to the bantamweight title.
