Newly crowned UFC bantamweight champion “Suga” Sean O’Malley is ruling the spotlight after beating all the odds. O’Malley is involved in a constant back-and-forth with his bantamweight rivals. The bigger names include former champ Aljamain Sterling and his teammate Merab Dvalishvili. Recently, O’Malley released a recent video of an individual training in the rain which later turned out to be none other than no.2 ranked bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili.
Merab on his Instagram posted a video of him showing some moves out in the rain. To this O’Malley on his Snapchat, took a video of a stranger training in the rain, the stranger being Merab. O’Malley was surprised after being in the presence of such a sight. Later, fans updated O’Malley on the individual’s identity. A hilarious coincidence between the bantamweight elites has left a lot of fans in laughter.
The recent talks of O’Malley’s first title defense involved Merab’s name in the list of possible opponents. Earlier, Merab was not planning on taking the opportunity as he wanted a rematch for his teammate Sterling. But the Georgian national stated that, if there’s no plan for a rematch, he would happily step in to be O’Malley’s opponent.
A matchup against Merab could be an interesting one for the UFC fans. Merab was in the background for a long time in Sterling’s title reign. But after UFC 292, we can see more of the Georgian National in the octagon. A possible appearance in the December card could be in the books for Dvalishvili.
Marlon Vera trolls Sean O’Malley after fact-checking him on Twitter
Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is going back and forth with fellow bantamweight Marlon “Chito” Vera. Both fighters talked trash in the buildup for UFC 292. After the crowning of the new champion, O’Malley mentioned Vera’s name in his post-fight interview. Since the callout, an array of insults was shared between both fighters.
Previously, at UFC 252, O’Malley faced his first and the only loss of his career against “Chito” with a first-round TKO. The new champ constantly talks about his plans in trying to fix the record. In a tweet, “Suga” celebrated his moment by mentioning his record as 18-0 but the fighter forgot to add UFC 252 loss. But Twitter’s community notes feature kicked in to correct the error. “Chito” didn’t sit back on this opportunity and hailed the feature for having his back.
This potential matchup involved some amount of history between these two individuals which makes it so exciting. The December card will hold O’Malley’s first title defense of his career. But the fans remain in curiosity to find out the person who will be facing the new champion.
