“Suga” Sean O’Malley has an exciting future ahead as the new bantamweight champion. The UFC bantamweight has numerous opponents lined up in his division to defend the title. However, he also looks forward to fighting for the featherweight title in the future. The undefeated Ilia Topuria remains the one name to pop out for a potential future classic against Sean O’Malley.
Topuria’s recent comments did not sit well with the bantamweight champion. Topuria stated that O’Malley needed to do more to entertain a fight with the Spanish featherweight. However, O’Malley fired back in a mocking manner. Suga said, “I feel like he’s a little confused in life. It’s got to be one of the dumbest things a UFC fighter has ever said.”
Topuria wanted to fight the toughest fight possible in Alexander Volkanovski but did not want to fight for a “money fight.” A potential fight with O’Malley would help bring fame and money to Topuria rather than Volkanovski. Volkanovski is the better fighter, but O’Malley is the bigger superstar. This is why O’Malley made those comments about Topuria. Why would anyone decline a chance to make more money?
O’Malley looks to business aspects while accepting a fight. He refused to fight top-ranked contenders because he was not getting paid a ton of money. His only ranked win came against Petr Yan before winning the title from Aljamain Sterling. Suga did have one of the weirdest runs to the title. However, that was a result of his fight philosophy.

The bantamweight division remains deep with solid contenders like Merab Dvalishvili, Cory Sandhagen, and rising contender Umar Nurmagomedov. Marlon “Chito” Vera and Henry Cejudo are also in the mix. The new champion had a message for his fellow bantamweights.
Suga took shots at Vera when he claimed that he was the most exciting bantamweight in the division. O’Malley warned Vera to settle down, or he would consider other options. He also mocked Cejudo for losing his last fight. Suga welcomed a fight against flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja.
O’Malley considered Merab and Sandhagen as potential options. However, he wants to avenge the loss against Vera. Vera remains the only fighter to defeat O’Malley in MMA. However, he warned Vera about choosing Sandhagen if he acted like he earned the title shot.
