UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley put on an impressive performance at UFC 292 and wants to prove himself outside the UFC too. O’Malley has always been ambitious and is ready to face new challenges. His willingness to be the best is the reason for his victorious career. During the post-fight press conference ‘Suga” expressed his wish to fight lightweight boxing champion Gervonta Davis.
O’Malley felt confident in his ability and believes that he can knock out Davis and wanted to prove the fans wrong. When asked about his future plans he said, “I also wouldn’t mind knocking out Gervonta Davis. I know people are gonna be like Oh I wanna be Conor(McGregor). I’m telling you that fight is going to happen”. He has always been the underground and has clapped back at fans for not believing in him.
O’Malley knows that he will be compared to Conor McGregor who fought Floyd Mayweather in a super fight in 2018. O’Malley has been compared to McGregor multiple times in the past with his knockout over Sterling being similar to McGregor’s knockout over Jose Aldo. He also has Irish roots from his grandmother. O’Malley has also done the “billy strut” multiple times which is a trademark of the Irishman.
There has been much speculation regarding a possible crossover battle between O’Malley and Davis. Both boxers have indicated interest in the battle, which would be a massive spectacle. Only time will tell if we ever see O’Malley and Davis square battle in the ring. But if it happens, it will be one of the most anticipated crossover battles in recent years.
Ryan Garcia warns Sean O’Malley about his boxing ambitions
O’Malley has called out Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis multiple times in the past but got no reply. After his championship win at UFC 292 O’Malley caught the eye of Garcia who appreciated his skill and performance. Garcia also replied to O’Malley’s callout for Davis and warned him about the dangers of a boxing ring.
He took to Twitter where he first appreciated Suga’s performance and then warned him. He tweeted “SUGA Sean you are good and all. But stop talking about this I’m going to box stuff. You’ll just get knocked out.” Garcia himself has felt Davis’s power when he got dropped in their fight. He also invited O’Malley for a tune-up before his next fight to prove his point.
The bout would be a tremendous event if it took place. Both O’Malley and Garcia are well-liked boxers who have a large fan base. It’d be a collision of styles, with O’Malley’s slick striking and Garcia’s power hitting. Fans will look forward to a fight between the two a thrilling fight to see.
