Khamzat Chimaev- Sean O'Malley- Nate Diaz

A lot of people want to see Sean O’Malley fight at UFC 280, but before that, a lot of people want to see Nate Diaz fight come UFC 279. O’Malley last fought early this month when the fight ended in an accidental eye poke from O’Malley leading to a no-contest. O’Malley is now heading to fight former UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, on October 22, 2022, in Abu Dhabi. O’Malley is 8-1 with 1NC in his UFC career, 6 of those wins by the way of knockouts.

Diaz last fought at UFC 263 back in July 2021 when he fought Leon Edwards. Though Diaz lost the fight via unanimous decision, the last 60 seconds of the entire fight remains the highlight of the battle overall as Diaz nearly finished Edwards that would’ve turned a losing fight into a victory had Diaz quickly rushed in to rain strikes on Edwards rather than taunting him. Diaz is probably the biggest megastar in UFC history alongside the likes of Conor McGregor.

O’Malley then reacts to the fight announcement of Diaz’s last fight under the UFC banner which is against undefeated welterweight Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279 in September.

“I think a lot of people just kind of writing Diaz off,” says O’Malley, “I think 90% of people think Khamzat is going there and ragdoll… I don’t necessarily think that’s true… I am actually very curious to see how much that sells. Nate Diaz is a massive star obviously, top 2 in the UFC right now,”
