Sean O’Malley is one of the biggest names in UFC’s bantamweight division. The eclectic career O’Malley has led landed him at #2 in the UFC’s Bantamweight rankings. It has also given him millions of fans who follow him religiously, but not until he did the work to attract them. One of the tactics he used was to adopt the style of one famous rapper, Tekashi 6ix9ine.

After winning the TUF fight in 2017, O’Malley landed his first UFC fight in March 2018. Before that, he was fighting in some of the smaller venues, in front of ‘the important people’ as he mentions in his latest interview at the FLAGRANT podcast. O’Malley is an excellent striker and has quite a couple of knockouts to his name. But so are many of the other fighters on the UFC roster. What stood him apart was the unique style associated with him that made him stand out.

Everybody remembers O’Malley from his rainbow-haired days. He was a rising star in the industry and it was all anybody could talk about. Well, he mentions that on the podcast and how he came about that style. ” First time I colored my hair, had the rainbow hair, really inspired by Tekashi 6ix9ine,” he said. ” I was like that looks dope, I get it. Everyone’s super interested…” O’Malley said he drew the facial tattoos and colored his hair inspired by the rapper’s character. Tekashi 6ix9ine was at his career’s peak in 2018.

Sean O’Malley recently crashed the Octagon interview at UFC 288 Sterling vs Cejudo main event. Aljamain Sterling won against Henry Cejudo via split decision and retained his third title defense. O’Malley had reportedly given the fight against Sterling to Cejudo as he made his UFC return after nearly 3 years of hiatus. Now that Cejudo lost, O’Malley will face up against Sterling for the UFC Bantamweight title shot.

The build-up to this fight just keeps getting stronger. O’Malley entered a heated exchange with Aljamain Sterling in the octagon. Even though he is the champion, O’Malley brought the A side with a stronger fanbase which resulted in more PPV sales. He is also #2 according to UFC’s division rankings.

O’Malley is confident he can bring more eyes to the fight against Sterling. More than Sterling vs Cejudo did at UFC 288. In an interview on The MMA Hour, O’Malley addresses this saying, “I’m very curious what the pay-per-views sales did for this fight, you know, I think me vs. Aljo could double it…Or I could double it sorry.” O’Malley and Aljamain Sterling are reportedly scheduled to face off in Boston, Massachusetts as part of UFC 292 in August.
