Sean O’Malley, a controversial figure in the MMA world, stirred up more drama with recent statements on the battle of the billionaires’ bout. O’Malley and his coach agreed that the matchup between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg would be insignificant, but they also critiqued the matchup as well on their podcast.
The potential fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg remains the talk of the town after Musk challenged the Meta CEO. The hype began when Zuckerberg used Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s iconic phrase, “Send me location.” It further caught momentum with Elon Musk promoting it in various ways on Twitter daily. Many fighters like Jon Jones and George St.Pierre offered to coach the billionaires for the potential bout.
A recent YouTube video uploaded by famous UFC fighter Sean O’Malley further discussed the topic. O’Malley’s coach believed that the fight between the tech moguls will be “the biggest laughing stock.” O’Malley said, “Neither of them look like they can hurt each other.” Considering that some of his fights have been controversial, like his recent victory against Petr Yan, fans did appreciate the fighter’s comments.
Sometimes fighters tend to create a fan following by being controversial, but this time, O’Malley does not seem to comprehend the support behind the “Tech Tussle.” The potential fight could draw a lot of attention to MMA, which can increase the investment and quality of the sport. Therefore, any comments against it would probably harm his street cred in the MMA world.
Sean O’Malley explains why he wants to avoid Sean Strickland
Bantamweight fighter Sean O’Malley has never shied away from hyping himself up in a controversial manner. He has portrayed himself to be someone who doesn’t truly fear anyone. However, he seems concerned about another UFC fighter, Sean Strickland. The fear does not seem to stem from Strickland’s skills in the octagon. However, it comes from the unpredictable nature of the middleweight fighter.
O’Malley said, “I wouldn’t even fight on the same card as Sean Strickland.” In 2021, he said he believed Strickland would do anything without thinking twice. The fighter seems to have mellowed down on his opinions of Strickland in 2022. He believes that there is no genuine concern between the two of them. He said, “I just think he doesn’t like some of my tattoos.”
Sean O’Malley realized he could not go after another controversial fighter who behaved like he had nothing to lose. Strickland has an unpredictable nature inside and outside the octagon. Hence, O’Malley wanting to avoid the middleweight fighter is not a far-fetched idea.
