“Heard he got knocked out,” Sean O’Malley throws a vicious taunt at Cody Garbrandt in a notorious tweet
Cody Garbrandt- Sean O'Malley
Sean O’Malley might seem to be the one who lets his hands talk, but can be sometimes lethal with his words as well. O’Malley, who saw himself in a disappointing situation last time when he entered the Octagon, is now looking ahead to the biggest opportunity of his career. O’Malley last fought at UFC 276 against Pedro Munhoz that ended as a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke. O’Malley is now looking forward to UFC 280 where he will fight former UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan.
O’Malley is currently 15-1 with 1 NC in his overall MMA career and out of it has 8-1 and a no contest in his UFC career. 6 of O’Malley’s 8 UFC wins come by the way of knockouts. O’Malley first broke into the major MMA scene with UFC’s exclusive segment titled Dana White’s Contender Series where O’Malley landed a viral knockout. O’Malley is now one of the most recognizable faces in MMA, thanks to his growth as an avid internet personality outside the Octagon in association with The Nelk Boys and many other famous figures.

Sean O’Malley links his fight announcement to Cody Garbrandt’s chin in his tweet
O’Malley has been in the top game of fight business long enough to breed some bad blood around him. Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is one of those people that creates mutual tension between himself and O’Malley. Even at UFC 269’s pre-fight press conference back in December 2021, Garbrandt and O’Malley had a fierce back and forth despite both having different opponents for their fight.
In relation to his announcement that he will fight Petr Yan come UFC 280 in October 2022, O’Malley said on Twitter: “Idk if it’s true or not but I heard Cody G got knocked out when he heard I was fighting Peter.” O’Malley is basically taking a dig at Garbrandt’s durability which has been questioned time and again due to the latter’s recent string of losses which are specifically rooted by Garbrandt getting knocked out.
What do you make of O’Malley’s latest verbal jab at Garbrandt? Do you think it was necessary? Who do you think wins between O’Malley and Yan come UFC 280? Do you think O’Malley will go on to become the biggest megastar in MMA history by surpassing Conor McGregor? Also, if O’Malley wins against Yan, who should he be fighting next?
