Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera (aka. Chito Vera) went down at UFC 299. The bantamweight champion dominated the fight through the course of five rounds and came out victorious. However, Vera accused O’Malley of greasing his hair which disadvantaged him in the fight. This statement from the title challenger spurred a lot of controversy on the internet. Now, O’Malley’s hairstylist cleared all the doubts with her reply.

Claudia Rubies served as the hairstylist for Sean O’Malley at UFC 299. She braided his hair before the fight. As such, she brushed off Chito Vera’s accusations’ of O’Malley lubricating his hair. Rubies stated she only used a nominal amount of gel. Feeling partly accused, she took a shot of Vera and slyly questioned him.

I braided his hair lol I used a normal amount of gel in order to have the brights tight during a fight. Didn’t see you grab him once, also dont they apply Vaseline on your faces before going in??

This comment from Claudia Rubies cleared the air around the controversies of O’Malley greasing his hair. Further, her fact about Chito Vera remained true since he didn’t initiate any clinch sequences or grappling attacks for O’Malley’s hair to come into play. The fight stayed standing until the end and ‘Suga’ poured the pace on Vera to significantly outstrike him. As such, he won a dominant unanimous decision win.

With the animosity between O’Malley and Chito Vera, the rivalry hasn’t ended. ‘Suga’ only continued to troll Vera for the lackluster performance at UFC 299. Further, with this win, the bantamweight champion has avenged his only loss in his MMA career. As such, he looked forward to building his legacy and called out Ilia Topuria for a champ-champ fight. But, he was also open to defending his belt against the #1 contender Merab Dvalishvili.

Sean O’Malley goes off on Chito Vera for accusing him of greasing his hair

Chito seemed to be grasping at straws by blaming O’Malley’s greasy hair for his loss. Although he didn’t blatantly state it, he affirmed O’Malley’s head was slippery causing an unfair advantage. This couldn’t be farther from the truth, as the bantamweight champion completely dominated and outclassed Vera. The two were miles apart in terms of all parts of the fight game. Now, O’Malley came up with a response to this cheap shot from Vera.

In the recent episode of the ‘Timbo Sugar’ show, O’Malley addressed the accusations. Firstly, the UFC star called out Vera and trashed him for some undisclosed reason that had to do with DMs. Then, he completely discarded Vera’s ‘hair-grease’ accusations and trolled him back for even saying it.

He comes out saying I'm greasing my hair. Bro, he didn't even get close enough to smell my hair. What was like greasing my hair gonna do?

The win over Chito Vera earned ‘Suga’ his first successful title defense. Now, he aimed a shot at becoming a double champion. But, since bantamweight had Dvalishvili waiting for his deserved title shot, things remained unclear for ‘Suga’. Expectedly, he is to face either Dvalishvili or Illia Topuria next.
