Sean Strickland felt guilty after making fun of Israel Adesanya‘s dog after releasing the news that the fighter might have some serious mental illness. At UFC 294, Strickland destroyed Israel Adesanya both inside and outside the octagon. Throughout the build-up to the fight, Strickland mocked Izzy and got into the former champion’s headspace.
Things really worked out for Strickland, as Izzy underperformed massively and lost the fight by unanimous decision. After the fight, Izzy was respectful and asked Strickland not to make fun of his dog, who died recently. After knowing about this, fight fans started to claim that Strickland’s trash talk disturbed Izzy so much that the ‘Last StyleBender’ lost his way during the fight.
In one of his YouTube videos after becoming the champion, Strickland expressed that Izzy might need some help. According to the ‘Tarzan,’ he ultimately felt bad after mocking Izzy, as he sees him as a restarted kid with a mental illness.
He said, “But with Izzy, it’s starting not to be funny anymore cuz as I’m starting to understand Izzy and his love of his dog, peanut butter and all, I’m starting to realize that he could have a form of mental r*tardation like there’s something f*cking wrong with this guy you know. So now, it’s just like I kind of feel bad like I’m picking on the r*tarded kid at school that eats his boogers. It’s not funny anymore. I mean it’s still a little funny but”
As usual, Strickland was quite straightforward with his statement and mentioned that mocking Adesanya and insulting him multiple times isn’t as enjoyable as it used to be.
Dana White isn’t sure about the future of the UFC middleweight championship after Sean Strickland’s shocker
Sean Strickland might have just ruined all the grand plans Dana White had regarding Israel Adesanya and the middleweight championship belt. It was rumored that the UFC was looking forward to the Africa event featuring Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis; however, with Strickland being the champion, they will have to wait.
White was equally shocked by Izzy’s performance and explained that the fighter wasn’t looking as sharp as usual and didn’t hurry even if the fight was closing. Despite the upset, White has the president make his plans with the new champion.
During an interview at the Dana White Contender Series press conference, White mentioned that the recent fight had just taken place and that a few more fights were scheduled to occur over the next month. He stated that they would determine the next course of action based on various factors, including injuries, fighter availability, timing, and location, with the goal of making the best possible fight.
