Sean Strickland continues to seek a middleweight title rematch against Dricus Du Plessis. ‘Tarzan’ failed to defend his title against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297. After losing a close fight via split decision, the fighter accused the judges of robbing him. Now, Strickland threatened to shift to boxing bouts if he did not receive the rematch.
Recent reports suggest the UFC hopes to book Du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya for later this year. This fight will also headline the UFC’s return to Australia in 2024. The reports caught the attention of Strickland. He went on social media to once again address the title picture. He asked the UFC to listen to the fans.

A rematch makes sense, as Strickland and Du Plessis had an extremely close fight. However, the UFC might book Du Plessis vs. Adesanya due to the heated rivalry between African-born fighters. A fan commented that all the fans want the UFC to make the Strickland and Du Plessis rematch. Strickland weighed in honestly on the matter.

‘Tarzan’ revealed having no intention to climb the ladder again. In 2022, he reached close to a title shot after entering the middleweight division in 2020. However, Alex Pereira knocked him out in the title eliminator bout. In 2023, he put on a two-fight winning streak and challenged Adesanya at UFC 293. The challenge of climbing back the mountain remains a tedious task, and Strickland knows it. Hence, Strickland teased a boxing journey.

Sean Strickland is well known for his striking abilities and has used his boxing techniques to win major fights. Strickland’s Philly Shell defense was one of the biggest reasons Israel Adesanya failed to beat him. The former middleweight champion has teased boxing bouts if the UFC refuses to give him the title rematch.
One fan commented that they would like to see the fighter inside a squared circle beating up YouTubers. As such, Strickland replied that he would make millions to just beat up Jake Paul inside the boxing ring. Recently, Paul and Strickland had an online scuffle, which resulted in the 9-1 boxer asking Strickland to spar with him for $1 million. Paul leaked Strickland’s private DMs, which the fighter showed interest in. However, nothing materialized. As of now, Strickland has just threatened the UFC to leave in search of boxing bouts to get paid. However, the UFC might call his bluff and choose not to give him the title fight against Du Plessis. Only time will tell if Strickland gets his wish or not.
