At KnuckleMania 3 former WBA boxing champion Austin Trout went one on one against former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez. The fight took place on Feb 17, 2023, inside Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Diego Sanchez was completely got destroyed.

Bare Knuckle Middleweight Mike Perry has also criticized Diego Sanchez for competing in the fight. Perry has opened on on the fight between Austin Trout and Diego Sanchez in an interview.
Speaking to ‘The Schmo’ he said, “Unfortunate [for] Diego Sanchez, man. You’re not punching… You’re just out there fighting a boxer, getting punched. You are a legend though, man. You fight in your own way a lot and they threw you in there and that is boxing, bro. And it was bare-knuckle boxing. So, you had to bleed.” Mike believes it was not a smart move from Sanchez to compete against Austin Trout in a bare-knuckle fight.
Diego Sanchez has fought some of the big names in UFC and has enjoyed a decent career inside the Octagon. But his bare Knuckle debut has not gone his way, losing via a TKO after the doctor stopped the fight. However, unlike Diego, Mike perry has found some success in the promotion landing two wins in two fights.
