“He gets a little bit … a little bit … be nice! Khamzat, understand: you’re better than most … you’re better than everybody. Don’t hurt people.”

Sean is a mature fighter and knows that someone like Chimaev can get a little out of control in the heat of the moment. However, the fighter talked with Chimaev and handled the situation nicely.

Strickland mentioned that he had to confront Chimaev and tell him to take it easy and respect his training partners. He said:

Chimaev is like a fcking dog with a bone,” Strickland said. “He spars, he trains, and there’s a fcking target on their back. He was sparring one of my buddies, a ’55er who moved up to 170, a lower-level pro, and I was just telling Chimaev, ‘I understand that you like to f*cking smash, but if you want to spar him, you gotta respect him, because he’s here to help you. He’s not at your level. And Chimaev was all about it. He understood, and he had good sparring.”

In most of his training videos online, Chimaev can always be seen training with the highest intensity. The fighter has a goal to become a welterweight champion and this requires the total commitment of which Chimaev is fully aware.
