Strickland reflects on what his life has become in a humorous way
Sean Strickland has been taking the loss to Alex Pereira better than most guys who would have lost their lives work in one night. Sean may not have many dreams of living in an affluent manner. However, what he does like is spending considerable sums of money on badass recreation like ATVs or dirtbikes. Strickland had similar plans that were derailed once Alex Pereira’s left hook connected right on his chin at UFC 276.
Strickland who was the #4 ranked middleweight in the world, took up a high-risk, high-reward fight against a newcomer like Alex. If he were to win, no more contender fights and Strickland could challenge for the title without making his way through Vettori, Costa or Whittaker. However, a loss would mean a sudden stop to his hype train, and possibly falling a long way down from contention again.
While everyone including his teammates thought that Strickland would mix it up and try to tire out Pereira, Sean chose to go out in glory (no pun intended) and stand up against a world champion kickboxer in Alex, what’s better? He kept moving forward with his guard down. A disaster, waiting to happen, it dawned on Strickland between the two final blows he received about how wrong he had been in his choices.

Pereira moved all the way up to #6 in ranking and is fast-tracked to the title now, Sean on the other hand is #7 in the rankings and will have to fight his way back up if he ever were to realize a title shot. In the meantime, he has been nothing but a good sport about his loss. Strickland often makes jokes about his misery and today while shopping for a new car he had to vent out for the fans.
On his Instagram, Strickland posted a video of him at the car dealership, he said, ” After this fight I was like I’m gonna buy a f*cking Hellcat, 700 horse power all the bling, ” as he introduced his dealer, Diego, he continued, “but then I got knocked the f*ck out, so now I have to settle for, what is this? “ Turning around Strickland revealed that instead of something to be driven in the rugged outdoors, Sean had to settle for a Hyundai Accent.
“So man this what my life is come down to, a Hyundai Fu*king Accent, ” Joked Strickland before he went on to finalize his transaction.
