Part of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios, “Halo”, Bungie‘s science fiction game is a worldwide phenomenon with quite a fanbase. Consequently, former UFC middleweight titleholder Sean Strickland is within those ranks. The unfiltered fighter most-oft voices out brash judgment on his peers. However, that he would do the same for a Halo TV Series adaptation, was anyone’s guess.
Strickland’s knack for firearms has been moreover apparent recently. Before botching his maiden defense, UFC 297 Embedded: Vlog Series – Episode 1 saw him make a ‘fan gun giveaway.’ His manager Lance Spaude has also gifted him one; he recently also went viral, at a range day shootout with Jorge Masvidal.
Hence, here’s what he weighed in on the live adaptation of the 3rd-person-shooter game.
Halo fans "how can they fu*k up a bada** in a green suit fighting for humanity"... @HaloTheSeries "Here is a gay handic*p Spartan and an annoying Asian girl"...You had to try to make liberal vomit and you succeeded. Lmao!! Did anyone watch it?Sean Strickland via X (@SStricklandMMA)
Just like the shorter and real-time strategy game franchise, the Paramount+ show follows Pablo Schreiber playing “Master Chief” Petty Officer John-117. The genetically engineered 26th-century combatant from the “United Nations Space Command” overcomes alien forces for humanity. Famed actor Bokeem Woodbine plays “Soren-066”; a deserter with a limp who becomes a pirate, still intrinsic to the story.
Moreover, the inclusion of Yerin Ha as Kwan Ha is what took fans aback, as it did Sean Strickland. The main story had plots of zombie-like “Flood”. In the show, the insurrectionist Ha becomes a prophecy who deals with the “Flood.” Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto weighing in controversially has fueled even further negativity, Now, ‘Tarzan’ is part of the equation.
What is Sean Strickland’s issue with the Paramount+Halo TV Show: Fallout so far
There’s no holding back the unfiltered UFC stalwart Sean Strickland. He valiantly makes an effort to diss all and sundry, much unprovoked. Currently, he has his sights set on Paramount+ and Amblin Studios’ “Halo” show. Here’s a deep dive into the same.
Strickland recently sounded off (rather vibrantly) on the show focusing more on a differently-abled veteran and an Asian support cast, more than the main character. And he isn’t the only one. Both seasons of the show have faced backlashes for the same. While Halo in itself is a one-person shooter, the show needs characterizations to drive the story forward.
Moreover, the show has also humanized the main character by making him remove his supposed helmet. Pablo Schreiber, who plays “Master Chief” was initially reluctant, but later supported the narrative that helped showcase a lot of motives and mannerisms. His character – the “chosen one,” shares non-PG 13 on-screen moments with a similar character “Makee“. A misanthropic alien refugee, played by Charlie Murphy. Fans have also voiced their opinions against this. While Strickland seemingly is a fan of the “Master Chief“, he too is sure to not take well to this angle.
Due to lash-backs, Jen Taylor was recast with Christina Bennington in Season 2. This season sported some good war-time narrative. While there have been many who took a liking to the show, others weren’t so lenial, which now also included Sean Strickland. Probably more to come on that front.
