Sean Strickland expressed his feelings about Chris Curtis losing to Brendan Allen at UFC Vegas 90. Strickland and Curtis are very close friends and often train together. The fight between Curtis and Allen featured a back-and-forth war. In the end, Allen walked out as the victor via a close split decision.
Following the unfortunate loss of Chris Curtis, Strickland took to X and mentioned his sparring session with his teammate. He revealed Curtis’s physical condition ahead of the fight. Moreover, he claimed Allen’s win did not mean much in the end.
UFC filmed Curt, I did one round of sparring with him and let him win. The camera crew was confused because they know me. I said if I spar him remotely hard he will lose all confidence going into this fight he's so out of shape. No excuses but take zero pride in this victory.Sean Strickland via X
Sean Strickland revealed how Curtis initially took time off from fighting after his baby was born. When the UFC approached, Curtis immediately jumped in for the fight on short notice. According to Strickland, it was a bad decision from the start. Nevertheless, Curtis put on an excellent performance. One can only wonder what would have happened if Curtis had more time to prepare.
Curtis has yet again failed to gain a winning momentum. In his last fight, he defeated Marc-André Barriault at UFC 297. However, the loss against Allen has again put the fighter in the same spot with no further developments. Curtis might need to put on a winning streak again before fighting a top-ten-ranked opponent again.
Chris Curtis releases statement after losing a close main event fight
Chris Curtis has finally issued a statement after his loss against middleweight contender Brendan Allen at UFC Vegas 90. The fight was a rematch of their first meeting in 2021, but the result was different this time. Curtis won via knockout the last time but did not defeat Allen this time.
Curtis went on X to address his fans. He thanked the fans for the support and stated the rivalry was 1-1 now. Moreover, he thanked Allen for fighting him.
Been a while guys. Thank you all for the love and support. Not the result I hoped for. Thought we had it but that's life. @BrendanAllenMMA it was an honor to scrap again, and the score stands at 1-1 bro. Rest up and enjoy your family man. As for me, back to the drawing board.Chris Curtis via X
Curtis didn’t complain about the result and accepted his defeat. The fighter congratulated Allen and revealed that he would start working on his comeback soon. According to many fight fans, Curtis did rush his octagon return and paid the price.
