UFC’s 185lbs champion Sean Strickland is infamous for an unfiltered take on everything. The fighter is not afraid to voice his opinions about anyone, unhinged. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg seems to have caught the attention of ‘Tarzan.’ Before his UFC 297 maiden title defense, the fighter has expressed much angst. He voiced his frustration with Zuckerberg’s lifestyle as a billionaire, describing it as being very selfish.
Before the year’s first PPV, the promotion held the famed Fight Week video blogs. As part of UFC 297 ‘Embedded‘: Vlog Series – Episode 1, the fighter sat down with ESPN MMA‘s Megan Olivi. He touched roots on his upcoming fight and deferred to other topics. He talked on Mark Zuckerberg’s decision to build a lavish multi-million dollar settlement, amidst the drastic wildfire in the area. This is what he had to say on the matter:
Society, man, it’s brutal., you know? Even little something like the Zuckerberg, you know, Mr. Zuck. You know, he’s building what? A multi-billion dollar compound in Hawaii. You, like, half of Hawaii burns down, and you’re taking all this money to build a compound. Like, you can’t talk about the world and not be angry. It’s insane, man. It’s fu**ing insane...Sean Strickland said
The Hawaiian wildfire started small but soon became a catastrophe, claiming about 70 lives and causing unimaginable ecological damage. The events of that day were sad, and Strickland reverberated on it. The 28-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC fighter is known for his rugged and unhinged demeanor. Case in point – his bashing Colby Covington’s ‘Fictional Persona’ in the same segment.
But contrary to belief, Strickland is emphatically hinging towards such social issues. Furthermore, he emphasized anger towards people like Zuckerberg, who talk a big game but fail to materialize results on global issues. UFC featherweight Max Holloway raised awareness about the situation and UFC donated approximately $1 million for the cause. However, it is not the first time Strickland has berated the tech mogul.
Sean Strickland weighs in on potential bout between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg
Sean Strickland makes his first middleweight title defense at UFC 297. UFC 297 will take place on Saturday from Toronto’s Scotia Bank Arena. The main card will air on pay-per-view following the prelims on ESPNews and the early prelims on ESPN+.
Talking about his backup plan and fight trajectory, to ESPN MMA, the fighter touched roots on global issues. As such he sneered at Mark Zuckerberg for building a settlement amidst the 2023 Hawaiin wildfire. But this is not the only time he has dissed the billionaire socialite and tech wizard.
In the past year, an interesting development has taken place in the bubble of martial arts. An unconventional fight prospect had stunned the world. Instead of crossover stints, tech billionaires Zuckerberg and Elon Musk announced a face-off. This was substantially due to the Twitter-takeover, and Zuckerberg announcing its rival ‘Threads’.
And here’s what Strickland had to say on the matter:
UFC CEO Dana White had told TMZ Sports that “both guys are absolutely dead serious about this.” As such a plethora of fighters sided with both parties, in their support. Strickland does not think much of the Meta CEO. And accordingly, he voiced his raw concerns, in a pure unhinged fashion.
