Sean Strickland had a monumental victory over Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. Strickland also won a performance bonus for his fight. Apparently, it was enough for the middleweight champion to fly his entire team in first class.

Eric Nicksick was the one who demanded Sean Strickland to fly his team first class. In a backstage interaction with Nicksick, Strickland was excited about getting the performance bonus. Interestingly enough, he drives a Hyundai Accent for it being economical. In the backstage interaction, Nicksick confronted Strickland with good news and bad news. The bad news was about flying first class, whilst the good news was winning the bonus.

Strickland was a big underdog at UFC 293. Virtually nobody picked Strickland to win the fight except for a select few. Strickland kept Adesanya at bay with his constant pressure out of kicking range. Eric Nicksick ably supported him in the corner. No fighter had dominated Adesanya in the way Strickland did at UFC 293. Strickland’s predicted path to victory needed wrestling prowess, but he outclassed Adesanya in the boxing range.

The win opened up the middleweight division that Adesanya ruled for a long time. Jared Cannonier was the backup at UFC 293. Other potential opponents for Strickland are Dricus Du Plessis and winner of Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa at UFC 294. Cannonier already beat Sean Strickland in their initial meeting via split decision.

Daniel Cormier does not think Israel Adesanya deserves a rematch against Sean Strickland

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier praised Sean Strickland, who dismantled Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. Cormier provided his thoughts on the aftermath of UFC 293 on his YouTube channel. He disapproved of Dana White’s thoughts of an immediate rematch.

Cormier is a credentialed mixed martial artist, and his words hold weight. He believed that the division needed to move on. Daniel Cormier is not against an immediate rematch for a long-reigning champion. Adesanya already got immediate in his last bout against Periera at UFC 287. Getting a second immediate rematch is not warranted. Cormier is no stranger to rematches as he had rematches with Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. DC even had a trilogy with Miocic.

Cormier is one of the best analysts and commentators in MMA right now. He was cage side with Laura Sanko and Jon Anik, witnessing UFC 293. Cormier interviewed Sean Strickland before UFC 293. Strickland was full of praise for Cormier, who had fought hardship to carve his space in MMA and wrestling.
