Sergei Pavlovich emerged victorious against Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night 222. This puts him in the position to challenge Jon Jones for the Heavyweight title. Later this year, Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones will square off, and Sergei is eager to challenge whoever emerges as the champion.
Till then, Sergei says he’ll rest. “I’ll rest,” Pavlovich tells reporters. “I’ll eat. I’ll sleep. I’ll rest some more. I’ll wait.” Pavlovich asserts that he is ready to take on either Jones or Miocic. He acknowledges that both of them would be challenging opponents and thus will prepare for both Jones and Miocic. “I wouldn’t say that either of them would be an easy fight,” Pavlovich says. “I mean, they’re both hard warriors so I would have to prepare for whoever it is, then be ready for whoever they give me.”
Sergei Pavlovich further shed some light on his preparation strategy for Curtis Blaydes coming into the fight at the post-fight press conference. “To be honest I was preparing for all five rounds,” Sergei said. “I thought the fight was going to go all five rounds. But once I realized I was getting him, there was no reason to keep the fight going longer. I had the opportunity to finish it early – that’s what I did.”
Pavlovich is a skilled machine with tremendous power. Sergei has maintained a perfect six-fight-winning streak and looks forward to being the first to decisively beat Jon Jones.
Sergei Pavlovich’s viral video in Las Vegas
Vegas is the gambling capital of the United States, and Sergei Pavlovich wasn’t going to miss any of it. Sergei Pavlovich knocked out Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night 222 in the first round itself, but not before trying out his luck on the slot machines of Las Vegas.
In the recent video, which went viral on social media, Sergei Pavlovich could be seen playing at one of the slot machines. This was before the Russian’s bout with Curtis Blaydes, which makes it all the more hilarious.
Sergei’s gambling venture was later brought up by a reporter at the press conference following the fight. It was all new to Pavlovich, who acknowledged that he had never gambled or used a slot machine before.
Pavlovich then admitted that he lost everything while gambling. “Alright, I’ll tell you what happened. First I won, then I’m thinking, ‘Alright, maybe I’ll win some more.’ And then I lost everything,” he reveals. While Pavlovich couldn’t figure out his way around the slot machine, he had no issue putting down Curtis Blaydes.
