Aljamain Sterling tries a new look and is all set to take on his upcoming opponents.
Sterling was part of the controversial win against Petr Yan at UFC 259. During the fight, Sterling got hit by an illegal knee from Yan in the fourth round. The ‘Funk Master‘ tried his best to regain his composure but he wasn’t in the position to continue. Referee Marc Smith had no other choice but to disqualify Yan for the attempt.
Consequent to the disqualification, Sterling won the fight and became the new Bantamweight champion.
After the fight, sterling was very unhappy with the way things went and in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, the fighter expressed his views. Sterling told Rogan “Everything I worked for to this point, to have the fight go like that, I thought it was close, I thought I was down two rounds. That’s not the way I wanted to win. That’s not how I envisioned this. I took the belt off. I was in bad shape and it would’ve been ego making me fight on.“
The next fight between Yan and Sterling is all set to take place at UFC 273 on April 9, 2022, inside the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Florida.

Ahead of his UFC Bantamweight title defense against Petr Yan at UFC 273, Sterling shares new pictures of him on his official Twitter account.
In the post, the 32-year-old American flaunted his new look in a Dagestani beard. Sterling expressed that he tried to get a new look and Dagestani beard is what he chose. The fighter jokingly explained that now he can destroy anybody and gave reference to the famous ‘Smesh everyone ‘ catchphrase of former UFC champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The fighter also gave himself a new name, Aljamain Stermaev which is similar to fighters from Dagestan. “Trying the Dagestani beard. Now I eat everybody. Smesh everyone! Aljambib Stermaev!• #AndStill #UFC273,” wrote Sterling.
The hashtags at the end are directed towards his upcoming fight with Yan which the fighter is looking forward to winning. It would be very interesting for the fans to finally get to see the fight and find out who is the deserving bantamweight champion.
