While Ricky also found little success with his jabs, most of the fight was dictated by the Kung Fu Kid. He also believes the UFC won’t let him fight Sean O’Malley, as the organization wants to protect Suga Sean. “Even Font – he’s No. 6. He’s OK. Chito Vera and Sean O’Malley but they probably won’t give me Sean O’Malley. They want to protect him. Whatever, just top five. My goal is to fight top-five fighters this year.” said Song.

UFC Vegas 72 was headlined by the fight between Song Yadong and Ricky Simon. Song Yadong, also called the Kung Fu Kid, was coming off a loss in his last fight against Cory Sandhagen. Meanwhile, Ricky Simon was coming off a five-fight win streak. Song Yadong started off pretty intensely with his boxing skills.

Song then caught Ricky in a guillotine choke after he was dropped in the first round. The fight could have been ended in the first round itself, but Simon managed to survive. Song displayed his wrestling skills and takedown defense as he kept stopping every takedown attempt throughout the fight. Song’s boxing proved very troublesome for Ricky, as he was always pushed to the fence. In the final round, Song dropped Simon and then followed up with a barrage of punches before he was eventually stopped.

Yadong earned the extra $50,000 performance of the night bonus for his fifth-round win. After this performance from the Kung Fu Kid, fans can expect him to fight any top 5 bantamweight in his next fight.
