Stipe Miocic was happy that Jon Jones called him out, as he wanted to fight for the heavyweight title once again for a long time. Miocic will be challenging for the UFC heavyweight champion championship against Jones at UFC 295 in Madison Square Garden on November 11. Miocic will fight in the octagon for the first time since losing the championship to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 in March 2021 at UFC 295.

After that loss, Miocic intended to get a trilogy with Francis Ngannou but that didn’t happen. But it was Jones who, after winning the title at UFC 285, demanded to face Miocic in his next championship fight.

During a recent interview, Stipe Miocic explained everything that took place during the whole time.  He said, “It was tough, because Francis was still around, and they were trying to put that together. Then he left, and they were trying to make the Jon Jones fight [for me], and every time we would figure it out, they would move it in a different direction. It made it a lot easier when he was calling me out, so I was happy with that……When you see me walking out with the belt and everyone saying, ‘and new,’ you’re going to find out real quick.”
