Marlon Vera just made the statement in his division, the bantamweight by defeating the arguably greatest of 135 lbs in a spectacular fashion. In a fight which was being dictated by his opponent in his last fight, Dominick Cruz, Vera found his key to victory in patience and believed in his power. Eventually, a well-timed head kick knocked down Cruz, the former 2-time UFC bantamweight champion after which Vera ended the main event with follow-up punches, therefore, giving a heck of a show to the crowd of UFC San Diego.

What’s next for Vera is up to the UFC as he believes in not thinking about matchmaking since it’s out of his control. However, Vera vows to keep working on himself and keep entertaining the fans. Possibly a fight against the winner of either Jose Aldo vs Merab Dvalishvili OR Petr Yan vs Sean O’Malley would be the biggest opportunity for Vera to earn himself a title shot and if all the stars align, eventually become the first UFC champion from Ecuador.

The Twitter world was left in awe of what happened and how Vera pulled off a winning move out of a fight he was losing against Dominick Cruz. Surprisingly, Xtreme Couture’s coach Eric Nicksick, the man who coaches the likes of Francis Ngannou, Sean Strickland and many more, predicted the winning move by analysing Cruz in the middle of the fight. Similar thoughts were in boxing legend Teddy Atlas’ mind but he revealed them only after the fight. But regardless, the unanimous opinion stands out that it is Marlon “Chito” Vera’s time and there’s nothing you can do it to stop the show!

Vera is now a certified “legend-killer” and now has wins over the likes of Cruz, Frankie Edgar, Sean O’Malley, Rob Font, Davey Grant, Frankie Saenz and many more. Vera also carries the record for the most finishes in the UFC bantamweight history. He is certainly one of the most dangerous fighters out there on the current UFC roster.

How did you react to the knockout by Vera? Who do you think is next for the Ecuadorian? Do you see him becoming a world champion in the future? With such a slick killer instinct to end a fight the way he wants, Vera is most likely to make history. However, what do you think is next for Dominick Cruz? Do you think it’s time for the WEC-UFC legend to hang his gloves after such a devastating loss? Where do you put Cruz amongst the greatest mixed-martial artists of all time?
