The Korean Zombie gave a detailed answer on why he chose to retire from MMA. TKZ lost to Max Holloway in the main event of UFC Singapore.

The Korean Zombie had a combat career spanning 15 years. The legend chose to retire after the recent UFC Singapore event. He gave his all against Max Holloway in Singapore. He had two unsuccessful challenges for the featherweight title against Jose Aldo and Alexander Volkanovski. TKZ gave a detailed reason for his retirement after the UFC Singapore event.

He said, “I haven’t achieved everything, but I’ve achieved enough, and wanting more in my head is like greed, so I’m trying to stop. I feel like I’ve received undeserved love compared to what I’ve done, so I’m grateful to everyone. Now I don’t think I will live a life of being judged and compared any more, so I feel free, relieved, and scared“. The Korean Zombie had notable wins over Dustin Poirier, Frankie Edgar, Renato Moicano, and Dan Ige.

Holloway had a speed advantage over TKZ. However, Zombie did hurt Holloway at times. Eventually, Holloway countered with an overhand right that knocked out TKZ in the 3rd round. Throughout his career, he was known for his great striking and ability to take damage. Both his attempts at the title left him broken, a dislocated shoulder against Aldo, and Volkanovski literally dismantled him. All UFC fans praised him for his dedication to the fight game.

The Korean Zombie’s began his fighting career in Korea itself and came to the US with World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). He always put on exciting fights and never backed down despite getting hurt. He ended his career in UFC with nothing left to prove.

South Korean fighter The Korean Zombie is a legend in his own right, having established himself as a top fighter in the UFC. His retirement came after getting knocked out against Max Holloway. Holloway was the favorite, as analysts considered TKZ to be out of his prime. Nevertheless, TKZ had two title shots in his career. Fighting for the title remains a big deal in the UFC as most fighters never get the opportunity.

His first title shot came against Jose Aldo. TKZ went ahead and faced Aldo at UFC 163 when the Brazilian was at the peak of his career. He was able to manage four rounds in the octagon with Aldo. The fight ended with him dislocating his shoulder. The Zombie’s next opportunity came against the undisputed Alexander Volanovski. This bout also ended in defeat after the champion outstruck him in all four rounds.

Other MMA fighters have immense praise toward TKZ for his endurance and grace. Fighters and fans alike, gave the legend a grand farewell from the octagon. His legacy as a pioneer of MMA from Asia will be remembered forever.
