Dave Chappelle and Joe Rogan go way back. Ever before the two met in Joe’s bunker-like studio for their first JRE Episode together, Chappelle and Rogan had been acquaintances since the early days of their careers before either of them first tastes success. In fact, at many points, the two even helped each other in their professional career.
While Joe was the first to land a big break in the form of a recurring role on a sitcom called, Newsradio, Dave was himself starring in many blockbusters as a supporting character while also having many successful comedy specials to his name. Rogan only became a household name after he took up the hosting gig for Fear Factor in 2001.
It was during this time that Chappelle himself was working on his own TV show, and he or no one associated with it knew back then about its significance in the long run. Titled after himself the show was supposed to be a sketch comedy show that dealt with many topics like culture, entertainment, politics, and social interactions.

However for such a deeply introspective show, the first episode itself had many wacky, out-of-the-ordinary sketches, and by sheer chance, Joe managed to get on one of these. Joe was walking down time square when he saw the production crew and Dave among them and walked over to say hi.
It was here that Dave asked him if he would like to be a part of the very first sketches to be aired on the show. When Joe informed that he had only 20 minutes before he needed to get to a meeting, the crew handed him a box of ribbons that he had to carry around with Dave. Written on the Ribbons was “NY B**bs”

Yes and that was the sketch, Joe and Dave walking around Times Square while rating women’s breasts. Dave who had been wearing a fake mustache, put an even more eccentric accent as he pinned these ribbons of merit to the women’s breasts. Joe doesn’t have many lines since his appearance as a whole was very impromptu
Joe would later go on to say, it was in that very moment he realized Dave would have a show that would last. To make it up for his impromptu appearance, Joe would appear in Season 2 of the Show, playing himself as the host of Fear Factor.
