Whenever the UFC has hosted an event in Australia, MMA fans have been left with multiple memorable moments. While the promotion has not visited Australia since UFC 243, that will change at UFC 284.

According to perthnow, UFC 284 is set to take place in Perth, Australia. This will be the first time in four years, that the leading MMA promotion in the world makes its return to Western Australia.

Tourism minister Roger Cook is set to announce the UFC’s return at RAC Arena on Tuesday. The famous arena will also be the host to this event. Minister Cook will be joined by current UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski, as they are set to make this grand announcement. UFC 284 is expected to take place on February 12th, 2023.

Despite there being no bout made official yet, the likes of Alex Volkanovski, Robert Whittaker, and Tai Tuivasa are expected to compete on the card. The UFC will do everything in its power to make this event a success, like the last time they were in Perth.

UFC 221 was the last time the iconic promotion hosted an event in Perth, Australia. This event took place at the Perth Arena, which is commercially known as the RAC arena. While Yoel Romero and Luke Rockhold headlined the card, Australian legend Mark Hunt fought Curtis Blades in the co-main event. UFC 221 also saw the debut of current 185-pound champion Israel Adesanya.

A card filled with fun fights, UFC 221 proved to be an entertaining night for combat fans in Perth and around the world. While the RAC arena has a capacity of 15,500, UFC 221 saw an attendance of 12,437 people. The total gate for the event was $2,810,520, and according to MMA Mania, the PPV buys were between 340,000 and 380,000.

When it came to the post-fight bonuses, Jake Matthews and Li Jingliang won the fight of the night honours. Debutant Israel Adesanya, and flyweight Jussier Formiga won performance of the night bonuses. All the mentioned athletes walked home with $50,000 as bonuses.
