“I almost died”- Ronda Rousey makes an interesting remark about her meeting with Serena Williams
Ronda Rousey met Serena Williams! Women’s mixed martial arts has grown leaps and bounds since it was first introduced in the UFC. With multiple weight classes and champions, the competition and thrill women’s MMA provides are second to none.
While women did not compete in the promotion until 2012, followers of the sport credit Ronda Rousey for breaking that barrier. The Olympic bronze medalist was the first female champion in the UFC.
Born in Riverside, California, Rousey began her career in the sport of Judo. Ronda realized further success when she won a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. After her career in Judo, Rousey transitioned into the sport of mixed martial arts. She became an instant hit as she amassed 6-wins and later got signed by the UFC.
In the world’s leading promotion, Rousey further solidified her place as she kept scoring dominant wins over her counterparts. At one point, many fans and pundits referred to Rousey as the most feared woman on the planet. Veteran UFC color commentator Joe Rogan even mentioned that Rousey could beat 50 percent of the men in the bantamweight division.
While everyone acknowledged Rousey’s greatness, the fighter felt the most happiness while meeting one of her favorites. During an interview, the former women’s 135-pound champion of the world detailed her meeting with Tennis star Serena Williams.

Ronda Rousey spoke about meeting Tennis legend Serena Williams
The world of Tennis has seen many men and women dominate the sport. However, when it comes to greatness, Serena Williams’ name is often mentioned. Over the years, Williams has put up remarkable performances which have earned her several accolades on the court. While many people are immense fans of the tennis legend, Rousey is in the same boat.
Things got more interesting for Rousey when Williams initiated contact with her. Speaking about the issue in a throwback interview, Rousey said, “Serena hit me up and I almost died! We’ve hung out a little bit and she’s so cool. She’s so awesome.”
While Rousey was nervous about meeting Williams, her nervousness completely vanished as she got to know more about the tennis star. “I was so nervous I almost died! At first I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m so nervous.’ And then after a few minutes, I was like, ‘This girl is so awesome!’ We HANDLED some sushi. It was nice to be out with another cool woman who can handle some food,” added Rousey.

It is great to see Rousey and Williams hold each other in high regard. Both Williams and Rousey have achieved several accolades in their respective sport, and they also serve as role models for several people around the world.
