“Worst Retirement ” TJ Dillashaw mocks Henry Cejudo for pretentious retirement after UFC 249 fight

“Worst Retirement ” TJ Dillashaw mocks Henry Cejudo for pretentious retirement after UFC 249 fight

TJ think's Cjeudo's retirement was grossly miscalculated

Henry Cejudo last saw action against TJ Dillashaw when the two met during TJ’s wild attempt to become a double champion. Though he was unsuccessful that night, it would be the least of his problems in the upcoming days as he tested positive for EPO and was forced into suspension. This time was essential for TJ in order to introspect.

In the meantime, Henry made the move up to Bantamweight, and captured the title, adding his name to the most exclusive list in MMA, that of being a double champion. What’s better, Henry actually defended both his belts and it was after his title defense against Dominick Cruz that Cejudo finally came to the conclusion that he was done with the sport.

Now two years after the fact, Cejudo has shown concrete intentions of returning to action. In fact this confirmed many fans suspicions that unlike what Cejudo said, the retirement was totally a move to make more money, rather than start a family like Cejudo initially suggested.

Now both TJ and Henry are back, with TJ challenging for the title this October and Henry sure to receive a title shot if he were to return. So it’s inevitable that the two will cross paths again.

TJ seems to already be building on the trash talk in case they are fast-tracked to face each other. On his appearance at the MMA Hour show TJ called out Cejudo’s “bullsh*t” retirement while also alluding that he would like to “right the wrong”

When asked by Helwani if TJ would give Henry a title shot, if he wins it at 280, he said, “100%, I mean why not? That shit show of mine played out perfectly to be honest, get my belt back and Cejudo’s coming out of ‘retirement’ which I knew was bullshit anyways” letting out an involuntary burst of laughter from Helwani.

“I mean I knew it from the beginning, that it was just a way to get paid more, but it kinda backfired on him and now he’s back, “ said Dillashaw as Helwani concurred that it was “the worst handled retirement” due to the fact that Henry was seen 45 minutes after he retired asking to be paid more in order to return during his post-fight press conference.

When asked if he would give Henry a shot at his first title defense, TJ argues that while he would like to make that fight happen, a dream fight of his is slipping away as quickly as sand in your palm, against Jose Aldo. Dillashaw argued that since he grew up watching Aldo beat his mentors, he’d like to face the man himself before he finally hangs his gloves.
