“I’m going to break him” – T.J Dillashaw seems confident of finishing Aljamain Sterling at UFC 280
Aljamain Sterling x TJ Dillashaw
At UFC 280, T.J Dillashaw will look to reclaim his place as UFC bantamweight champion. However, the journey towards UFC gold won’t be easy for the fighter. A former two-time UFC 135-pound champion, Dillashaw will have to beat Aljamain Sterling to win the title for a third time. While many expect this fight to be a tough one for Dillashaw, the 36-year-old has vowed to break Aljamain Sterling.
Known for his technical and accurate striking, T.J Dillashaw has been a dominant force in the octagon. With some impeccable skills at his disposal, Dillashaw will look to use the same against Sterling. During an interview, the fighter mentioned he wanted to finish Sterling. Dillashaw said, “I’m going to finish him. I’m going to break him.”
Further critiquing Sterling’s skills, Dillashaw said, “He doesn’t have the gas tank. He doesn’t have the full, well-rounded … he’s going to rely on some small skills that he’s good at that I don’t think are going to be an issue for me, and I’m going to break him by just being on him at all times, that constant pressure and then finishing him.” [H/T MMA Junkie]
Dillashaw’s urge to finish the bantamweight champion might be a result of constant trash talk by the latter. During the build up to UFC 280, Sterling made some serious accusations against T.J Dillashaw.
Aljamain Sterling accuses T.J Dillashaw of cheating
In 2019, T.J Dillashaw received a two-year suspension after testing positive for EPO. Since then, the fighter has been tested multiple times, and not a single issue has been reported. However, going into the fight at UFC 280, his opponent Aljamain Sterling believes that the former champion is still cheating.
During an interview with Submission Radio, Sterling said, “If I had to make a prediction, I would say there’s definitely no doubt in my mind that that guy’s finding some type of doctor or little micro-dosing or whatever, however that sh*t works. “I guarantee you he’s finding some type of way to get an edge once again, as he’s done his entire UFC career. So I already made peace with it. So, at the end of the day, it is what it is.”
However, Sterling is confident of getting the job done at UFC 280. “And it is what it is, man. I feel like this is not gonna be the first guy I fought that’s been on some (supplements), some extra supps. So, I think my hard work and skill set is enough to get the job done before, and I think it can get the job done again,” said the UFC bantamweight champion.
