Tom Aspinall believes he is part of the most thrilling matchup available in the weight class, as he expects to fight Sergei Pavlovich. Both Aspinall and Pavlovich are aspiring champions and are regarded as strong contenders for the title. Both have given fight fans some amazing heavyweight actions and have shown their knockout abilities. During a recent interview with UFC Unfiltered, the fighter talked about his upcoming fight.
According to the fighter, he and Sergei Pavlovich are the best finishers in the division and their knockout record makes it an amazing clash for the fans to see. Aspinall is more than ready to fight Pavlovich and was asked to make that fight immediately.
He said, “I think it’s going to be Pavlovich who I fight next, if you ask me. That’s it. That’s the ideal situation, me and Pavlovich. I think it’s the most exciting fight in the heavyweight division right now. I believe that right now I have the shortest average time in the UFC, and he has the second-shortest average time, which is wild. Stick us two in the cage and see what happens. It’s going to be absolutely insane.”
Currently, the biggest noise in the heavyweight division is about Jon Jones‘s title defense against Stipe Miocic but Aspinall seems to be putting his fight even higher than Jones’.
What might be the future of the UFC’s heavyweight division?
The heavyweight division certainly gathers a lot of attention from fight fans because of the superstars it has. Nothing beats the thrill of huge MMA fighters going against each other with the raw power to knock out anybody.
Tom Aspinall mentioned in the same interview that he isn’t sure about what’s going to happen at UFC 295 as it will impact his future in the division. According to the fighter, the division is currently at a very strange time.
Jon Jones has confirmed that if he beats Miocic in the title fight, then the fighter might retire from the sport. On the other hand, Miocic, if he wins the fight at the age of 41, might follow the same path. It would be interesting to see what happens after UFC 295 and how the new generation of heavyweights utilizes it for their benefit.
