“He’s different”-Tony Ferguson admires Islam Makhachev for being unique among AKA fighters

Ferguson has lost his last four fights and hasn’t won a fight since defeating Donald Cerrone in the second round by TKO in 2019. Tony Ferguson recently admitted to losing his memory after Michael Chandler kicked him. Tony Ferguson remembers the terrible experience he had after getting severely kicked in the face by Michael Chandler, which has been dubbed the KO of the year, after losing his fight at UFC 274.
Tony, even though might have been a lesser fighter in his last few fights, He is a jiu-jitsu black belt. Eddie Bravo, a well-known trainer, presented him with the award. Ferguson obtained his black belt from Bravo after his submission victory over Kevin Lee at UFC 216. Bravo received the belt from Jean Jacques Machado in 2003 after submitting Royler Gracie.
When it comes to American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) competitors, such as Daniel Cormier and Khabib Ferguson have been quite vocal about something. However, surprisingly his views are different, in the case of Islam Makhachev.

Ferguson was a guest on “The MMA Hour” in which he stated the following, “I’ll joke around and I’m going to continue to joke around because that’s how I am with my stuff, Because, you know, obviously, he cheated on the scale too over there. But it’s one of those AKA things where they do that, and they get away with it. With Makhachev, he’s different. He’s different. I got respect for that.”
Things are much better for Makhachev. He’s on a 10-fight winning streak and is the world’s No. 4-ranked lightweight. Makhachev is likely to fight in a contender’s match next, or maybe a title fight against Charles Oliveira.
While Ferguson has had his fill of competing for the lightweight title against the best in the world. In the first round, he looked good against Chandler, indicating that Tony still has the ability to compete at a high level but after getting brutally chined it indicates that the fighter’s best days are mostly behind him.
