Tony Ferguson opens up about Michael Chandler KO
Fan-favorite Tony Ferguson was on the receiving end of the most devastating knockouts of all time. El Cucuy finally opens up about how he felt during that moment.
UFC 274 went down last weekend and it was one entertaining fight event. The event took place at the Foot Print Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, and was fully packed. The PPV was headlined by two title bouts in the lightweight and strawweight division and yet a fight on the undercard had all the eyes on it. Tony Ferguson made his return to the octagon at UFC 274 against Michael Chandler and it was one of the most anticipated fights of the night.
Tony was coming off a loss to Beneil Dariush in 2021 and was set to take on the electric Michael Chandler. Despite the return of Ferguson, it was not a pleasant evening for the fans of El Cucuy. He was brutally knocked out with a high kick to the face which put him out cold. It’s been nearly a week and Ferguson has finally opened up about his KO loss.
“I took a big kick to the dome this past Saturday inside that Octagon. It put me out for a long time,” wrote Ferguson in one of his recent Instagram posts. Tony put up a very amazing performance in the first round stunning Chandler but fell prey to the once-in-a-lifetime knockout from Michael in the second round.
Tony Ferguson confirms he had memory loss in the second round
“It was a scary feeling not remembering anything from beginning of second round all the way until I walked up to the ambulance. I thank god everyday I made the trip back to reality,” wrote Ferguson in an emotional Instagram post. “All jokes aside, I didn’t mean to scare you all, should have done things different like keep my ‘hands up and chin down’.”
Tony also took time to congratulate Chandler on his ecstatic win. “My fault I lost, props to Chandler for the highlight reel finish. I have many things to work on, not just competing. One battle at a time.” The defeat to Chandler at UFC 274 makes it a four-fight losing streak for Ferguson.
