“He got bent out of shape,” Tony Ferguson reveals the reason he would never do an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience

Tony Ferguson- Joe Rogan

UFC Lightweight Tony Ferguson can bear all the pain in the world for the love of fighting, but has zero tolerance for a biased nature of personality against him, as he senses in longtime UFC colour commentator Joe Rogan. Ferguson is in a tough chapter of his professional MMA career where he is on a 4-fight skid and was last seen losing to Michael Chandler via second-round KO in UFC 274. Ferguson was regardless, dominating in the first round of the fight.

Ferguson, the former interim-UFC Lightweight champion was known in his prime for his illustrious 12-fight winning streak that included wins over the likes of Kevin Lee, Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, Rafael Dos Anjos, Gleison Tibau, Lando Vannata, Edson Barboza, Josh Thomson and many more. Ferguson in the past was also booked for a record on 5 different occasions to fight the now-retired UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov. But the fight never happened and their rivalry never got squashed.

In an interview with MMA Fighting’s THE MMA HOUR with Ariel Helwani, Ferguson gives an hour-long telephonic interview to talk about his future as a fighter, his desire to pursue higher studies, his proposal to compete with Khabib with a unique offer, thoughts on moving up to welterweight and much more.

Ferguson also talks about how he felt the commentary team towards him has been biased because of one of the men on the desk job, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier, being Khabib’s former teammate and because of this Ferguson feels that even Joe Rogan is no more a neutral speaker.

“If you watch my [Charles] Oliveira fight without the commentary, you can actually see the fights better,” said Ferguson. “I recommend anybody to do that. Because what ends up happening is the commentary [team] gang up on people that they don’t like. I never did a Joe Rogan interview before

I might- But because of that, obviously, he probably got bent out of shape on that one. Obviously with [Daniel] Cormier, with Khabib, and I make my comments about ‘fathead’ and him not making weight, concluded Ferguson [h/t MMA Fighting]

What do you make of Ferguson’s comments on partially vowing to not give an interview to Rogan, meaning him and Rogan won’t see each other on Rogan’s podcast The Joe Rogan Experience? Who do you think Ferguson should fight next if (a) he stays at lightweight or (b) he moves up to welterweight? Where do you put Ferguson amongst the all-time fan favourite fighters?
