Dana White- Tony Ferguson

Former interim-UFC Lightweight champion Tony Ferguson seems to have enough of the UFC now and is looking forward to proving a point by winning perhaps one of the most important fights of his life come this weekend at UFC 274. Ferguson, who was once on a 12-fight winning streak followed by an ongoing 3-fight skid in his career, is going to fight former title challenger Michael Chandler in a 3-round lightweight battle.

Ferguson is now looking forward to coming back to the winning column against a very dangerous Chandler who is known for his hand speed coupled with incredible knockout power and uses his strong styled wrestling to keep the opponents away from getting the fight on the ground. Regardless, Ferguson’s fighting style has posed incredible challenges to many notable names inside the octagon and his unique striking patterns alongside his wrestling pedigree and 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu experience have the potential to pose a bigger threat to Chandler.

Tony Ferguson claims multiple fighters are ‘keeping their mouth shut’ about the UFC’s retaliation practices

In the pre-fight media scrum, Tony Ferguson looked all locked and loaded and he was quick to fire back to a UFC 262 press conference incident back in May 2021 when he was about to fight in the co-main event against Beneil Dariush. In the press conference, he called Chandler out for having a title fight within his 2nd UFC fight and said that he had ‘Dana White privilege’ to which everyone laughed then. However, Ferguson has cleared his intentions now and the famous phrase doesn’t seem to be funny anymore.

I don’t think that sh*t’s very funny, you do [think] maybe,” said Ferguson “I don’t think it’s very funny, so everybody’s looking at they are smiling and laughing but nobody is saying sh*t… I don’t think it’s very funny anymore, I don’t think you guys should think that’s funny, so I am taking this weekend very f**king seriously, so I will kick this Dana White boy’s ass,” continued Ferguson.

“Nothing personal against Chandler but I am gonna be real I am tired of these retaliation practices from the company…A lot of fighters have been keeping their mouth shut for a long time, you should ask some of the other fighters that have been f**king treated like sh*t for a long time too,” concluded Tony Ferguson.

What do you make of Tony Ferguson’s frustration as a fighter under contract with the UFC who is not happy with his current situation in the fight business at all? The UFC has allegedly been called out and brutally criticised multiple times for underpaying its fighters as well as not giving enough exposure. Consider Francis Ngannou’s situation for example, who not only feels his worth is undervalued but also thinks that his dreams of becoming a boxer have been hindered because of his time in the UFC.
